Gordon Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI (December 3) – University of Connecticut freshman guard Ben Gordon (Mount Vernon, NY) was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
On the week, Gordon recorded 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in two Husky victories. Last Monday night, he had 23 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 110-58 win over New Hampshire. In Sunday's 84-76 victory over George Washington, he posted 19 points, four boards and five assists. Gordon hit 13-of-24 shots (.542) from the field, including 6-of-13 (.462) from three-point range. He leads UC in scoring with 16.7 points per game, and is second on the team with 12 assists.
Gordon’s efforts in Sunday’s contest against George Washington at the BB&T Classic helped UConn into Monday night’s title game against Maryland. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
