Connolly Tabbed With ECAC Weekly Honors

CENTERVILLE, MA – Freshman Shannon Connolly (Baldwinsville, NY) of the University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team was named Co-Rookie of the Week by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon.
Connolly was named Co-Rookie of the Week with Providence’s Carrie Holldorf, after Connecticut went 1-1 against ECAC Northern rivals Yale and Princeton. Connolly had an assist in UConn’s 3-1 over Yale on Saturday afternoon, and then added two assists in the Huskies 3-2 overtime loss to Princeton on Sunday.
Sophomore Sara Mahoney (Lynn, MA) and freshman Shannon Murphy (Mapleville, RI) were also named to the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll. Mahoney scored the game-winning goal on the power play over Yale and Murphy recorded 52 saves in the 1-1 weekend.
Connecticut travels to Durham, NH for a weekend series against No. 2 nationally-ranked New Hampshire on December 1 & 2. Both games are to start at 2:00 p.m.
