Men's Basketball Schedule Updated

STORRS, CT (October 25, 2001) - In the past two months, there have been several changes and additions to the UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball schedules for the 2001-2002 season. The revised and updated schedules follow, as well as, a listing of the particular changes and additions to each schedule.
2001-2002 UConn Men’s Basketball Schedule Updates
• The game time for the game at Villanova on January 13 is now 2:00 p.m., a change from the original Noon tip time.
• The game at Miami on February 2 will start at 7:30 p.m.
• The opponents for the two exhibition games have been set. UConn will host Nike Elite (formerly Marathon Basketball) on November 6 at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies will host Grass Roots Canada on November 13 in the Hartford Civic Center.
• The game vs. Oklahoma on January 7 will be shown on espn2 at 7:00 p.m., instead of ESPN.
• All 27 UConn regular season contests will be televised. In addition to the previously announced ten games to be carried on national tv (five ESPN, two CBS, three espn2), UConn’s 17 other games in 2001-2002 will also be televised. WTXX-20 in Connecticut will carry 14 regular season games. WCTX-59 in Connecticut will carry all four games of the BB&T Classic, including the two involving UConn. New England Sports Network (NESN) will air the UConn game at Providence on January 16.

2001-2002 UConn Women’s Basketball Schedule Updates
• UConn will now play the Lady Volunteers at 4:00 p.m. January 5 in Knoxville, TN. The contest was originally scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start. The game will be nationally broadcast on CBS.
• Game time of the January 2 match with BIG EAST member Pittsburgh has also been changed to 8 p.m. at Gampel Pavilion. Originally the game was slated for a 9:00 p.m. start.
• Times for the Preseason WNIT have been set. UConn will play Fairfield November 9 at 7:30 p.m. If UConn advances, the other WNIT contests would be November 11 at 2 p.m., November 15 at 7:30 p.m. and November 18 at 5:00 p.m. The Huskies will host all their WNIT contests at Gampel Pavilion.
• The opponents for the two exhibition contests have been named. On November 2, the Huskies will play the Houston Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion. They will also host a 7:30 p.m. exhibition game with Gustino Powerbasket November 5.
• In addition to four nationally televised contests, the BIG EAST Television Network will televise the February 3 game at Providence. Local Connecticut television plans for the February 3 game at Providence are not yet available. CPTV will broadcast the remainder of UConn’s regular season schedule.
