STORRS, CT - The University of Connecticut field hockey team shutout Boston University, 2-0, on Senior Night at the George J. Sherman Family-Sports Complex to earn its second consecutive victory. With the win, UConn improves to 7-8 while Boston University is 7-7.
The Husky offense struck quickly, claiming the game’s first goal nearly three minutes into the contest while freshman (Avondale Harare, Zimbabwe) scored off a penalty corner with 32:14 left in the first half. The goal was Henderson’s team-leading 13th goal of the season. Sophomores (Raby, Australia) and (Mt. Warrigal, Australia) were credited with the assists.
Although UConn outshot the Terriers, 15-9, in the contest, the Huskies did not earn their second goal until the 15:57 mark in the second half when sophomore (Water Mill, NY) scored her second goal of the season off an assist from junior (Warren, CT).
The two goals proved to be enough as UConn junior goalkeeper (Red Hook, NY) notched her third shotout of the season with seven saves.
The Huskies return to action Wednesday, October 24, when they take on in-state foe Fairfield in a 4 p.m. contest.
