UConn Earns At-Large Bid to NCAA Mens Soccer Tournament

STORRS, CT (Nov. 13, 2000) -- The University of Connecticut mens soccer team earned an
NCAA Division I Mens Soccer Championship berth for the third
consecutive year and the 21st time in program history Monday afternoon
as the 32-team field was announced for the 2000 NCAA Tournament.
UConn, 15-3-2 overall, was one of 16 teams receiving at-large bids. The remaining 16 teams earned automatic or play-in berths through conference tournament championships. Connecticuts head coach Ray Reid and his team will play at home in first round action on Sunday, November 19 at 12 noon at Morrone Stadium against Dartmouth. If UConn advances, it will face the winner of No. 2 seed Clemson (13-3-2) vs. Furman (17-3-2) the weekend of Nov. 25-26.
Tickets will be on sale the day of the game at Morrone Stadium. Adult tickets are $7 and all others (senior citizens, college students and youths) will be charged $5.
