Three Field Hockey Seniors Named Regional All-Americans

Seniors Laura Klein (Fairfield, N.J.), Katie Stephens (Hershey, Pa.) and Amy Herz (Willow Grove, Pa.) received first team honors after storied four-year careers with the nationally-ranked Huskies. All have been apart of four of the last five postseason tournament berths for Connecticut, with the 1998 and 1999 seasons marking NCAA Final Four appearances.
Klein, a two-time All-American forward, is a marketing major at UConn and finished her career tied with former Husky standout Wendy Brady for third all- time in career points with 124. She became the ninth field hockey player in school history to reach the UConn 100-Point Club. This year, Klein became the BIG EAST Conference's first back-to-back winner of the Offensive Player of the Year award.
Stephens is a special education major and rounded out her four-year career as the 10th field hockey player in school history to reach 100 career points with 107. She ranks eighth all-time in the category and sixth all-time with 44 career goals. Stephens received BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year honors this season.
Herz, a two-time All-American forward, is a physiology-neurobiology major and completed her Husky career tied for ninth all-time with 104 career points, tying former UConn alumnus Nicole Castonguay. She was the 11th field hockey player in school history to reach the 100-point plateau and was named to this year's All-BIG EAST First Team.
