No. 5 Men's Soccer Routs Villanova 4-1

Storrs, CT (Oct. 25) - The #5 University of Connecticut men's soccer team used two goals from freshman Cesar Cuellar (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) to defeat Villanova by a score of 4-1 before a crowd of 1,816 at Morrone Stadium in Storrs on Oct. 25. With the BIG EAST win the Huskies improve to 12-2-2 and 7-1-2 in the conference while Villanova drops to 5-8-2 and 2-6-2 in the BIG EAST.
Junior Chris Gbandi (Houston, TX) opened the scoring for the Huskies on a penalty kick at the 19:06 mark after senior Brent Rahim (Diego Martin, Trinidad) was taken down in the Villanova box. Cuellar netted the first of his two goals less than ten minutes later on a chip over Villanova keeper John Williams assisted by senior Max Zieky (Glastonury, CT). Cuellar then opened the second half scoring at the 52:15 mark, scoring on a scramble in front of the Wildcat net. The goal was assisted by Rahim and junior Mansour Ndiaye (New York, NY). After Chris Edgar scored for Villanova at 59:58, the Huskies closed out the scoring with just over seven minutes left in the contest when senior Donny Mark (Shorewood, MN) snuck a pass from junior Mike Mordocco (Dix Hills, NY) past Williams.
The Huskies return to action on Saturday when they travel to Piscataway, NJ to take on BIG EAST rival Rutgers in a game scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
