Men's Golf Concludes Fall Tour

Brewster, MA (Oct. 24) - Behind a score of 305, the second best team score of the final day, the University of Connecticut men's golf team moved up from seventh into a tie for third in the field of 46 with Hartford at the 66th annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Championships Oct. 24. Both UConn and Hartford turned in totals of 619 (+43) to conclude the two-day event held on the par-72 Captains Golf Course in Brewster, MA. Defending champion, Rhode Island, again took the team title with an 11-over-par, 587.
Pacing the Huskies was John Humphreys (Sr., Niantic, CT) who fired a closing round of 73 to go along with yesterdays 80 in order to place in a tie for 13th (153, +9). Kevin O'Connor (Jr. East Lyme, CT) strung together rounds of 76 and 78 to tie for 17th (154, +10), while Kevin Coghlan (Jr., Northridge, CA) was UConn's third athlete inside the top 20 as he coupled a 78 with a 77 to tie for 19th (155, +11). Sean Vigue (Jr. Lebanon, CT) and Chris Jefferey (Fr., Lincoln, RI) both carded a 14-over-par, 158, to tie for 32nd. Vigue had rounds of 81 and 77, while Jefferey shot an 80 and 78.
