Men's Soccer Defeats Georgetown, 2-0

Storrs, CT (Oct. 20) - The men's soccer team used two first half goals to take a 2-0 BIG EAST conference victory over Georgetown at Morrone Stadium in Storrs on Oct. 20. The game, played before 2,325, improves the Huskies to 10-2-2 overall and 5-1-2 in the conference while Georgetown drops to 8-5-1 and 4-4-1 in the BIG EAST.

The Huskies first scored at the 12:27 mark when junior David Castellanos (Philadelphia, PA) headed in a direct kick from senior Roberto Vargas (Santa Cruz, Bolivia). Freshman Cesar Cuellar (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) had the second Husky goal at 32:33 on a blast into the righthand corner of the net. The goal was assisted by freshman Lindon Pecorelli (LaCrescenta, CA) and senior Max Zieky (Glastonbury, CT).

Connecticut goalkeeper Bryheem Hancock (Middletown, DE) made three saves to earn his eighth shutout of the season.

Connecticut returns to action on Oct. 22 when they host BIG EAST opponent West Virginia in a game scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Morrone Stadium in Storrs.
