Yale Snaps UConns Seven Game Win Streak

New Haven, CT (Oct. 11) - For the first time in the 21- year history of the Connecticut-Yale series, Yale defeated the UConn women's soccer team, 1-0, on Oct. 11. The loss dropped the Huskies to a 10-4-1 record on the year, while the Bulldogs improved to 7-4- 1. The all-time record between the two programs now stands at 17-1-2 in support of the Huskies.

After a scoreless opening half, Yale's Chandra King connected on the only goal of the night. The shot came at the 58:20 mark as she received a pass from Jennifer Mendoza to beat the Husky defense and deliver a 15-yard blast into the lower left corner of the net.

Connecticut goalie Maria Yatrakis (Brooklyn, NY) recorded three saves on eight Yale shots, while Yale's Sarah Peterson cleared away two of UConn's 12.

Connecticut returns home on Oct. 13, to face Georgetown in a match scheduled for 7 p.m. UConn has never been defeated in the five meetings between the two programs. The last of which came during the BIG EAST Quarterfinals a season ago, with the Huskies knocking the Hoyas out of the tournament with a 2-0 victory.
