CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (Oct. 11) Senior All-American Amy Herz (Willow Grove, Pa.) lit up a game-winner in double overtime to send the eighth-ranked University of Connecticut field hockey team surging past 13th-ranked Boston College, 2-1, on Oct. 11 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Herz was on fire all night, assisting freshman Amy Marland (Mt. Warrigal, Australia) in the second half for the tying goal against the Eagles. The Huskies would trail BC by one in the first. Herz has tabulated 19 points on the season and nears the UConn 100-Point Club with 95 for her career.
On the defensive end, both BIG EAST Conference teams kept the game to a low scoring match for 91 minutes of play. The Huskies connected on 28 shots on goal and Boston College was limited to five.
UConn goes to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in the BIG EAST, while BC goes to 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference. The win puts the Huskies at 17-5-1 all-time versus the Eagles.
Connecticut next hosts BIG EAST rival Rutgers at the George J. Sherman Family Sports-Complex on Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.
