The Hugh S. Greer Field House which was recently renovated in July, 2023, opened in 1954 and was originally home to the UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball program until 1990. The facility is named after former men’s basketball coach and athletic director Hugh S. Greer. Greer served as the men’s basketball coach from 1946-1963 where he went 286-112 and led the Huskies to its first seven National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) berths and a National Invitational Tournament (NIT) appearance.
Greer Field House features a Martin ISS 2000 surface constructed of rubber particles bound with polyurethane. The complex includes locker rooms, weight room facilities, and a new fueling station. The facility houses a 200-meter track with an eight-lane straightaway sprint area, an infield area with separate long jump and triple jump pits, pole vault and high jump areas.
