Hailey Barrett will begin her second full season with the Huskies as an assistant coach in the fall of 2018. Barrett joined the UConn women’s tennis program in January of 2017.
During her time in Storrs, she has helped the program achieve success both on and off the court. This past season, UConn achieved the program’s highest national ranking at No. 85 in the ITA National Team Rankings and saw a pair of Huskies earn the program’s first-ever ITA regional ranking as Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva was ranked 13th in singles play and along with Jacqueline Fitz-Randolph, were ranked seventh in doubles play.
Off the courts, UConn was named an ITA All-Academic status for the fourth-straight season this past spring and were also honored with a NCAA Public Recognition Award for outstanding academic performance, and honor the program has achieved 10 consecutive times. During the last two seasons, the Huskies have earned 13 ITA individual academic awards as well.
Barrett comes to Storrs of a highly accomplished playing career at West Virginia. The Lansing, Michigan native was a four-year letterwinner for WVU, playing at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and doubles. She also served the team as a three-time captain. Off the court, she was the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Vice President.
She graduated with a degree in sport management. She began her coaching career as a volunteer with the WVU women's program during the fall season of 2016 and also spent the summer teaching tennis at The Greenbrier Resort.
