2024-25: Sophomore season): The sophomore finished her season with 18 singles wins, as well as 3 conference wins. Matos also added 21 doubles wins, as well as 6 conference wins.
2023-24 (Freshman season): In the fall Matos made an impactful debut on the tennis court, amassing an impressive record of 9-6, and also securing victory in five consecutive matches... She won in a captivating match against Quinnipiac, where Matos rallied from being down one set to clinch victory with two consecutive sets... Matos also excelled in doubles play with teammate, Olivia Wright... Together, they achieved a doubles record of 15-4 along with a Doubles Flight A Championship at the Army West Point Invitational.
Before UConn: Matos comes to Storrs after competing at the varsity level at Longwood High School from the 7th grade to the 12th grade in Middle Island, N.Y. From 2019 to 2022, Matos was a four-time Girl’s Varsity Section XI Division 3 Champion. In juniors in 2022 and 2023, Matos was a JTT USTA Eastern Section winner. Also, in 2023, Matos was G18’s Doubles L3 Bradenton, Fla. Champion.
Personal: Born Aug. 2, 2005... Daughter of Elena Ventura and Jose Matos... Has a brother, Jose and a sister, Sofia... Currently majoring in agricultural and consumer economics.
