2017 (Sophomore Season): Appeared in all 48 games, making 47 starts in left field...Fourth on the team with 31 hits...Hit .230 at the plate, while ranking third in at-bats (135) and fifth in runs (10)...Stole six bases on seven attempts, both team-highs...Six multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 performances against Radford in the season-opener...Recorded two hits and an RBI in a 2-0 upset win over Grand Canyon on March 12.
2016 (Freshman Season): Appeared in 50 games during her freshman campaign, starting 48 contests…Recorded 30 hits and stole four bases in five attempts…Hit .246 at the dish, but was a .256 batter in league games…Fielding percentage of .981, getting 45 of her starts in left field…Nine multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 day against Memphis on March 24…Went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double against Nevada on Feb. 27.
Before UConn: Bates comes to Storrs after competing at Del Oro under head coach Sean Erickson. The outfielder was named a 2013 All-League First Team member and served as team captain during her junior campaign. In 2013, she hit .393 with 18 runs batted in and 23 steals. Off the field, Bates volunteered with the Special Olympics and also was a Key Club and Team Inspire member.
