Huskies Fall at UMASS

AMHERST, Mass. – No. 24 UConn men's soccer were defeated by the UMASS Minutemen, 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Rudd Field. The Huskies fall to 0-2 on the season.
UMASS quickly took control of the match, scoring the game's opening goal just 45 seconds in. The Minutemen doubled their lead in the 12th minute, putting the Huskies down 2-0 early on.
UMASS continued to dominate in the early going, scoring their third goal of the half in the 25th minute, putting UConn in a deep hole at 3-0.
The Huskies carried the three-goal deficit into the halftime break. Despite trailing, UConn held an 8-7 advantage in shots in the opening half.
Senior forward Elijah Langford scored the Huskies lone goal of the match in the 75th minute, recording his second goal of the season to make it 3-1.
UConn continued to throw numbers forward down stretch, but the deficit proved to be too large for the Huskies to overcome.
