STORRS, Conn. – No. 24 UConn men's soccer (0-1) is set to face the UMASS Minutemen (0-0-1) on Sunday, August 23. Kickoff will be at 1:00pm at Rudd Field.
UConn is coming off a loss to Syracuse in the season opener on Thursday. Senior forward Elijah Langford scored the Huskies first goal off the season, marking his first in a UConn uniform. Langford, a Point Loma transfer scored 14 goals in two seasons for his previous school.
Redshirt-junior goalkeeper Kyle Durham made six saves in the season opener. Durham made 6+ saves in six matches last season.
A Look at UMASS
The UMASS Minutemen are coming off a 2-2 draw at No. 10 Bryant in their season opener on Thursday. Junior goalkeeper Dean Linden made seven saves in the game. The Minutemen are coached by Fran O'Leary entering his 12thseason in Amherst. UMASS was voted to finish in third place in the Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing in fifth place a season ago. The Minutemen return two of their top five point leaders from last year in Shane Velez and Thomas Wadas.
