STORRS, CT – The UConn football team announced their home opponents and dates for the 2026 season with seven games slated for Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.
Season tickets for the 7-game home schedule are on sale now at UConnHuskies.com/Football. 2025 season ticket holders can still renew their tickets for the upcoming season by visiting UConnHuskies.com/myaccount.
The 2026 season kicks off a new era under head coach Jason Candle, as the Huskies open their campaign on Saturday, September 5 hosting the Lafayette Leopards from the Patriot League. This will be just the second meeting all-time between UConn and Lafayette and first since a 20-13 Leopards win in 1984. UConn has played at least one Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) school in each season since moving up to Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) in 2002 and is 22-2 overall against FCS opponents.
UConn remains at home for game two with the Maryland Terrapins from the Big Ten Conference coming to Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field on September 12. The Huskies last faced Maryland in 2024 to open the season. This will be the Terrapins first visit to The Rent since the 2013 season.
The Huskies will host a pair of ACC opponents this season with Syracuse coming to East Hartford on October 3 and North Carolina in town on November 7. The Huskies and Orange have played six times at The Rent with UConn winning four of those meetings. The Huskies last faced the Tar Heels in the 2024 Wasabi Fenway Bowl, a 28-14 win, and this will be UNC's first visit to UConn since the 2009 season.
UMass will be in town on Saturday, October 24 to renew a series that is tied at 38-38-2. The Huskies and Minutemen have met seven times in the FBS era since 2012 with the Huskies holding a 5-2 edge. UConn has won three-straight in the series and are 2-1 against UMass in East Hartford, CT.
The final two home games of the 2026 season will come against opponents from the Sun Belt Conference. The Huskies will welcome James Madison, a College Football Playoff team in 2025, on Saturday, November 14. This will mark the seventh meeting all-time between the Huskies and Dukes but just the second during the FBS era. This will also mark JMU's first trip to The Rent.
The 2026 home slate concludes on Saturday, November 21 against the Old Dominion. The Huskies will celebrate "Senior Day" with a first-ever match-up against the Monarchs.
The full 2026 schedule will be released at a later date. All dates are subject to change.
