McKenna Brand Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

STORRS, Conn.- UConn sophomore libero/defensive specialist McKenna Brand (Lucas, TX) has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
In UConn's 3-0 weekend sweep of the Top Dogs Challenge, Brand averaged 4.92 digs/set to anchor the Husky defense throughout the tournament. Brand, the 2024 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, chipped in 21 digs, 7 assists and 2 aces in the four-set win over South Dakota. Brand followed up this performance with 20 digs, five assists, and an ace against Ball State and 18 digs, two assists, and an ace against Colgate. Brand leads the Huskies with 91 digs (3.96/set) on the season.
UConn returns to action in New Haven against Yale on Friday, September 12th.
