Audrey Rome Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

STORRS, Conn.— Audrey Rome (Sandwich, Ill.) has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced in a release on Monday.
Rome anchored the defense for UConn in an undefeated weekend, chipping in 15 blocks on the weekend to lead the Huskies to three straight victories. Rome poured in seven kills and six blocks in a straight set victory over Brown on Friday night, contributing five kills and one rejection in a sweep over Marist on Saturday.
Rome closed out an impressive weekend with eight total blocks in Sunday's win over Sacred Heart, adding four kills in UConn's win. Rome's eight blocks were the most by a UConn player this season.
UConn kicks off BIG EAST play on Friday night, traveling to Chicago to face DePaul at 8:00 pm.
