Heckel Wins Gold at FIBA U19 World Cup

BRNO, Czechia – UConn women's basketball sophomore Kayleigh Heckel and the United States won the 2025 FIBA Women's World Cup.
The U.S. beat Australia, 88-76, in the gold medal game. The United States went 7-0 in the tournament.
Heckel posted 16 points, five rebounds and five assists in the championship game. She started all seven games in the tournament and averaged 9.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
The Americans have now won U19 gold 11 times, including four straight.
This is Heckel's second gold medal with Team USA after winning at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup.
Heckel signed with UConn in May after playing her freshman season at USC. She averaged 6.1 points and 1.9 assists per game and was third on the team with 45 steals.
