Heckel to Compete at 2025 U19 World Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UConn women's basketball sophomore Kayleigh Heckel will represent the United Statea st the 2025 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup from July 13-20 in Brno, Czechia.
Heckel represented Team USA at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup. She won gold and was named to the All-Tournament Second Team.
Heckel signed with UConn in May after playing her freshman season at USC. She averaged 6.1 points and 1.9 assists per game and was third on the team with 45 steals.
The United States begins group play vs. South Korea at 2:15 p.m. ET on July 12. USA faces Hungary on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. ET. Team USA finishes off group play vs. Israel at 8:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The games will air on the FIBA YouTube channel.
The FIBA U19 Women's World Cup, which was launched in 1985, features the world's top 16 U19 national teams who qualify based on their finishes the previous year at the biennial U18 zone championships (USA won gold at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's World Cup). The USA has won the gold medal in nine of the last 10 competitions, including the last three.
