Alex Heard Wraps Play at NCAA Regional

AMHERST, VA - UConn sophomore Alex Heard (Boca Raton, FL) rounded out his season on Wednesday by finishing up play at the 2025 NCAA Amherst Regional at the Poplar Grove Golf Club. Heard earned a bid to compete as an individual thanks to winning the 2025 BIG EAST individual championship two weeks ago.
Heard and the rest of the 13 team, 86 golfer field battled heavy rains and a changing schedule to complete the three round regional event. He was one of 10 individuals playing in the event and was pair with fellow BIG EAST member Peicheng Chen during the final round.
The Husky sophomore finished tied for 40th at the event, shooting a two-over 72 in each of the three rounds on the par 70, 7,212 yard course, finishing at 216 (+6). He finished with 10 birdies over the 54-holes and played the par 5's at two-under, averaging 4.67 per hole.
The Oklahoma Sooners won the regional at -10 and along with Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Wake Forest and Pepperdine advance to the NCAA Championship. Sakke Siltala from Texas State finished second overall and was the top individual finisher to advance on to the NCAA Championship as well.
Heard finished up his sophomore season playing 25 rounds over 10 events, posting a 71.5 per round average. He earned his first career win, taking BIG EAST medalist honors, while posting five top-20 and three top-10 finishes. He earned All-BIG EAST honors on the year.
