No. 2 Huskies Beat Holy Cross

STORRS, Conn. – Freshman Sarah Strong had a personal-best 22 points to lead the No. 2 UConn women's basketball team (7-0) past Holy Cross (4-4), 88-52, Tuesday evening in Gampel Pavilion.
Strong shot 9-for-12 from the field and 4-for-5 from three-point range. All her points came in the second and third quarters. Strong also grabbed seven rebounds and two steals.
Graduate student Kaitlyn Chen had a season-high 14 points and seven assists while redshirt senior Paige Bueckers notched 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
The Huskies had a sluggish first 20 minutes and took a 33-27 lead into halftime.
UConn locked in after the break, outscoring the Crusaders 55-25 in the second half on 64.7 percent shooting.
The Huskies scored 29 points off turnovers and had 27 assists on 35 made field goals.
Tuesday marked the first start of the season for graduate student Azzi Fudd.
The Huskies travel to Brooklyn, N.Y., to face No. 22 Louisville in the inaugural Women's Champions Classic this Saturday at 9 p.m. in the Barclays Center. The game will air on FOX.
The Cardinals are the first of four ranked opponents the Huskies will face in December.
