UConn Golfers Finish 13th At Loyola Tourney

LOYOLA INTERCOLLEGIATE RESULTS
GOODYEAR, Ariz. --- The UConn men's golf team improved its score each day of the three-day Loyola Intercollegiate at the Palm Valley Golf Club, finally finishing in a tie for 13th place in its first tournament of the spring portion of its 2019-20 schedule.
The Huskies shot an aggregate 1-under 287 on Monday, the final day of the tourney, to finish with a total of 13-over 299-291-287=877 to tie Missouri State for 13th place in the huge 19-team field. Drake won the tournament title.
Leading the UConn golfers was redshirt junior Chandler Morris (Hobe Sound, Fla.), who shot a 2-over, 74-73-71=218 to finish in a tie for 34th place in the 112-player field. Morris shot is lowest tournament total of the season and equaled his low round of the season (71) for the fourth time. That was his fourth round of par or better.
Redshirt senior Drake Hull (Rutland, Vt.) finished in a tie for 46th place with a 3-over, 76-72-71=219, which included Hull's seventh and eighth rounds of par or better this year and 44 such rounds in his career.
Also for the Huskies, junior Finn Boynton (Milford, Conn.) finished in a tie for 56th place with a 4-over, 74-72-74=220, which included his lowest round of the season and his first round of par or better this season. Junior Jack Boulger (Walpole, Mass.) was tied for 71st place after a 6-over, 75-75-72=222, including his second round of par or better. Sophomore Jared Nelson (Rutland, Vt.) tied for 90th with an 11-over, 80-74-73=227.
Playing as an individual, UConn's Rodrigo Sanchez (Santo Domingo, D.R.) shot a 16-over, 77-77-78=232.
UConn will continue its spring schedule on March 2-3, when it travels to Florida to compete in the Ft. Lauderdale Intercollegiate Championship, played at the Ft. Lauderdale Country Club.
