UConn's Zheng & Provenzano Earned ITA Academic Recognition

STORRS, Conn. - UConn junior Yili Zheng (Shanghai, China) and sophomore Christian Provenzano (Montclair, N.J.) were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as a 2019 Scholar-Athlete for achieving a grade point average of 3.50 or higher for the academic year. The duo earned the honors for the 2018-19 season.
Zheng earns the honor for the second-consecutive season while Provenzano earns the honor after his rookie season.
"Being recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team is an honor, and it shows their commitment to academics," stated Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall. "The players do an excellent job balancing their academics and athletics, and they continue to make the University, athletic department, and their coaches very proud with this award."
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
