Huskies Add Three for 2019-20

STORRS, Conn. - UConn men's associate head coach Reinaldo Valor announced the addition of three student-athletes to the men's tennis program for the 2019-20 season. Incoming freshmen Luke Riemann (Hartford, Conn.), Alex Yu (Naples, Fla.) and Rami Scheetz (Cedar Rapids, Ia.) will all join the Huskies for the fall 2019 semester.
"I'm excited to announce our recruiting class for Fall 2019," stated Valor. "All three of these young man will be vital to our team success moving forward. These young man have all played high level national & International junior competition which will help them make an immediate impact. Even more exciting then their tennis game is the character and work ethic that I have seen in all three of them throughout the recruiting process. The future for UConn men's tennis is bright and look forward to working with this group of fine young men."
Luke Riemann - Kingswood Oxford High School / Hartford, Conn. Â
- Four-year varsity starter
- Senior captainÂ
- Team MVP his junior year
- As a freshman, helped guide team to New England Class A Championship capping off a 17-0 season
- Riemann achieved a top-five USTA ranking in New England singles and doubles in 18s, and 16s
- He represented New England in 18s national team championships and 16s and 14s zonals
- He competed last summer in the 18s National Championships at Kalamazoo and National Clay Courts
Alex Yu - ES International School / Naples, Fla.     Â
- Rated as a First-rate Athlete                                           Â
- He won second prize of the National Youth Group Championship
- He is an Excellent Volunteer of Jiangshu Province
- Yu won the group first prize for the National Tennis Championship for middle school students
- In 2016, was named Outstanding Student Cadres of his school
- Also in 2016, he won the singles second prize, doubles first prize, group second prize for Jiangsu Youth Tennis Championships
Rami Scheetz - Washington High School / Cedar Rapids, Ia.
- Named a 4-star recruit
- Named to the top-200 in the nation
- Won the Iowa 2A doubles State Championship in 2018
- Was the Iowa 2A doubles state runner up in 2017
- A three-ttime high school district championÂ
- Was a four-year varsity captain
- Scheetz was named the USTA Iowa Player of the Year in 2018, the youngest recipient in award historyÂ
- Was a National Clay Court Qualifier
- Was the number one ranked player in Iowa
