MANCHESTER, Conn. – The UConn men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to AAC foe Temple Saturday morning at the Magic Lincer Tennis Club. The Huskies evened their record to 7-7 in dual match play this season.
"One early break of serve was the difference on court 1 and court 2 was on its way to a tiebreaker but the doubles point was decided by the loss at three doubles," stated associate head coach Reinaldo Valor. "The guys put themselves in a winning situation but fell short on the execution end. Temple is a very strong team and proud of our effort we made them earn it."
At No. 5 singles, senior Justin Warren (Durham, N.C.) lost a really tough three-set battle with Eric Biscoveanu, 4-6, 6-4 and 14-12 in the tie breaker. At No. 1 singles, sophomore Yili Zheng (Shanghai, China) also lost a three-setter against Mark Wallner, 6-2, 2-6 and 6-0.
Wallner and A. Caceres Casas are ranked No. 37 nationally as a doubles team and beat UConn's No. 1 team of Zheng and Hank Hill (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), 6-4.
The Huskies are right back in action tomorrow morning when they host Delaware at the East Hartford Tennis Club.
