Akerley & Oladipo Capture Runner-Up Finishes on Day Two

HOUSTON - The Huskies success carried over to day two of The American Championships holding on to second place after seven events with a score of 44 points. Sophomore Courtney Akerley (Ashford, Conn.) secured a runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:26.44.
Freshman Divine Oladipo (London, U.K.) recorded a runner-up finish in the shot put event with a throw of 15.82m.
In the Javelin throw, freshman Thalia Ghalam(Midland Park, N.J.) took fourth place in the event with a throw of 46.48m.
On Friday, Emily Durgin (Standish, Maine) highlighted a successful first day by setting a conference record in the 10,000m.
Durgin raced in second for the majority of the race until the final lap of the 10,000 run, beating UCF's Anne-Marie Blaney with a meet record time of 34:28.06.

In qualifying, the Huskies qualified in the 800m led by Susan Areno logging a time of 2:08.91. Alexis Panisse (2:09.67), Katie Foley (2:11.28) and Sydnee Over (2:10.99) joined Areno in qualifying for the finals.
In the 400m hurdles, Tia Strackman qualified for the finals with qualifying time of 1:01.40.
The American Championships wrap up on Sunday with 14 events still to come on the women's side.
