UConn WT&F Competes at Sam Howell Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - The UConn women's track and field team will compete at the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8, hosted by Princeton University at Weaver Stadium.
With the exception of the women's hammer throw at 1 p.m., Friday's competition will begin at 5 p.m. with the 800m dash. Competition will resume at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8 with the shot put and the javelin. Saturday's track events are scheduled to begin at noon with the 4x100m relay.

Teams with athletes competing include: Adelphi, Binghamton, Bridgewater (Va.), Brown, Buffalo, CCSU, Columbia UConn, Cortland, Dartmouth, DeSales, Eastern, Georgian Court, Gettysburg, Haverford, Hofstra, Iona, La Salle, UMass, Manhattan, Marist, MIT, Monmouth, Monroe College, Muhlenberg, NYU, Oneonta, Penn, Quinnipiac, Rowan, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Siena, Southern Conn. St., St. Joseph's (Pa.), St. Thomas Aquinas, Stevens Institute, Swarthmore, Syracuse, TCNJ, Temple, Tufts, Vassar, Villanova, Williams and York (Pa.). In addition, a number track & field clubs have athletes competing.
The Huskies are coming off solid performances all around last weekend as the team competed at both the Stanford Invitational and the Pepsi Florida Relays. Redshirt senior Emily Durgin set the new outdoor school record in the 5000m run, beating her previous outdoor-best by 40 seconds and the school record by 10 seconds (16:05.44). Sophomore Courtney Ackerley also boasted a new personal-best in the 5000m after she recorded a time of 16:44.45.
