VB Swept at No. 21 Wichita State

Wichita, Kan. - The University of Connecticut volleyball team (10-15, 3-10 AAC) dropped its series finale at No. 21 Wichita State, 3-0, in American action on Friday evening - 25-14, 25-16, and 25-11.
Freshman Isabelle Peterson paced the Huskies with six kills, while junior Iman McGary added five of her own. McGary and freshman Ally Barrett recorded a career-best two service aces apiece.
The Shockers (21-3, 13-0 AAC) recorded a conference-high .494 hitting percentage in the match, led by Abbie Lehman's game-high 12 kills. As a team, Wichita State had a strong defensive showing with six blocks total blocks and 47 digs.
The home team was able to grab a 1-0 set lead (25-14) after holding the Huskies to a season-low -0.69 hitting percentage. The Shockers earned three of their six team blocks in the first game, with Emma Write playing a hand in half of the squad's total blocks.
UConn's offense had a better showing in the second game but it was a strong defensive performance by Wichita State that aided them to a 2-0 advantage on the night. Despite the Huskies producing more attacking opportunities than their counterparts, the Shockers posted 18 digs in a 25-16 victory.
The Huskies recorded an early 4-2 edge thanks to a pair of kills that soon aided a 4-0 scoring run. Wichita State later pushed its lead to 17-10 before finishing the game on a 6-0 scoring run for a 25-11 victory.
UConn visits Memphis on Sunday, Nov. 5 as part of its four-game road swing. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m. (ET).
