AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE RELEASE
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's soccer team was well-represented when the American Athletic Conference announced weekly awards on Monday afternoon, as redshirt senior Scott Levene was named Goalkeeper of the Week and junior captain Jacob Hauser-Ramsey earned Defensive Player of the Week.
The Huskies (6-3-2, 3-0-0 American) had four players earn recognition, as scoring leader Abdou Mbacke Thiam and freshman Blaise N'Gague received nods to the AAC Honor Roll.
It is the second time this season that UConn has produced four players on the American weekly awards list, including Sept. 4, when Levene was selected Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time as a senior.
Levene, who made nine saves this past week in a loss to No. 1/3 Maryland and win over conference rival Cincinnati, recorded his sixth shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory against the Bearcats on Saturday. It is his fourth Goalkeeper of the Week nod this season.
UConn's goalkeeper has made 63 consecutive starts for the Huskies since 2014 and currently leads the American in goals against average (0.68), save percentage (.833), saves (40) and shutouts (6).
Hauser-Ramsey picked up his second American recognition and first Defensive Player of the Week award after being a key part of the defensive group that pitched UConn's conference-high sixth shutout against Cincinnati. He was mentioned on the AAC Honor Roll on Oct. 2.
With help from Hauser-Ramsey, the Huskies lead the conference in goals against average (0.68) and goals allowed (8). UConn ranks 16th across all of Division I in goals against average as a team.
Thiam scored the game-winning goal in the 79th minute against Cincinnati on Saturday, his conference-leading fifth game-winner of the season. His seven goals are a team-high and ties him for 25th in Division I.
N'Gague netted his first-career goal against No. 1/3 Maryland last Monday, converting on a penalty kick in the 34th minute. He earns his second mention on the Honor Roll in his freshman campaign.
UConn returns to action on Friday night when it travels to play USF, the only other undefeated team in conference play. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. (ET) and will be broadcast on the American Digital Network.
