STORRS, Conn. - Heading into Tuesday night's home match against Yale, the UConn men's soccer team does so knowing it leads all of Division I in accumulated attendance and average attendance for the 2017 season.
The Huskies have racked up 40,572 fans this season at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium, while averaging 3,688 per game. Maryland ranks second in both categories, with South Carolina, Wake Forest and UC Santa Barbara shortly behind.
A big part of UConn's attendance is the Goal Patrol - the student-run fan group that attends each home game at Morrone Stadium. With its loud cheers in support of the team, it has become the most well-known cheering section in all of Division I college soccer.
