Seven Huskies Compete on Day 1 of NCAA East Regionals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two weeks after participating in the American Athletic Conference outdoor championship, seven members of the UConn women's track and field team opened a three-day stretch on Thursday, May 26 at the 2016 NCAA East Regionals in Jacksonville, Fla.
In total, the Huskies boast eight individual NCAA East Regional qualifiers. For more information on the Connecticut student-athletes in Florida, please CLICK HERE. The top-12 finishers in each event advance to the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. On June 8-11

Junior Taylor Anderson advanced to Friday's 100m dash quarterfinal with an impressive 11.65 second performance, finishing sixth in her heat but earning a time qualifier in the prelims.
Five Huskies competed in Thursday evening's 800m run, headlined by a 30th-place finish from junior standout Sydnee Over, who crossed the finish line in 2:07.63. Next up, Hannah Parker (2:07.87) placed 34th, while Katie Foley (2:09.42), Kat Vodopia (2:09.82) and Alexis Panisse (2:09.91) all cracked the top-42.
Sarah Bowens rounded out action on the meet's opening day, taking 42nd in the long jump with a leap of 5.64m.
