BOSTON - UConn women's track and field senior Emily Durgin (Standish, Maine) finished seventh at the Boston University Season Opener Saturday where she posted a personal-best and one of the top times in the country after running 16:00.93 in the 5000m.
"This was a great opener for Emily," head coach J.J. Clark said, "She ran about a 40 second PR and one of the top times in the country. We are really happy to have her back as she did not run this cross country season."
Her 16:00.93 time is among one of the top-20 times for the 5000m in the nation. The Standish, Maine native shaved over 40 seconds off her personal best time. Durgin's previous career- best in the 5000m was 16:44.13, which she recorded in the 2014 indoor season.
