Huskies Finish Day One at Big Al Invite

PRINCETON, N.J - Day one of the Big Al Open, Princeton Invitational, is in the books for the women's swimming and diving team.
Junior Emma Smith finished in third place in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming in 5:00.85.
The relay teams both finished in fourth for the women's side. In the 400-yard medley relay, senior Christine Pedersen (Vinterbro, Norway), Julie Ho, Dani Bordes (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Margot Manning completed the race in 3:55.26.
In the 200-yard medley relay, the Huskies Freshmen Eliza Manning, Margot Manning, Jackie Van Lew (Tinton Falls, N.J.) and Brazil Rule swam to a time of 1:37.95.
On the diving side, Alli Butera (Havertown, Pa.) scored a 328.80 on the 3-meter springboard, taking the top spot in the event. Teammate Monica Marcello finished just behind her in second place. Amanda Craig (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Michelle Kapulski rounded out the divers, taking sixth and eighth place, respectively
"Our divers had a strong first day on the 3-meter springboard," said head diving coach John Bransfield. "Alli Butera and Monica Marcello finished first and second in the event. We hope to carry today's performance into the 1-meter event tomorrow."
