Huskies Sweep Hartford and Sacred Heart

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's tennis team swept a pair of dual matches at home on Sunday, shutting out both Sacred Heart and Hartford, 4-0, on the UConn Tennis Courts. Both matches were played under the championship clinch rules.
The Huskies opened the day against SHU and needed a comeback at doubles to start the match. After falling at #1 doubles, UConn bounced back to sweep the remaining two matches to gain the opening point.
Senior Zac McEntee (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and freshman Hank Hill (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) posted a 6-3 win at #2 over Derek Chapman and Anthony Savio. Junior Parker Goldstein (Marietta, Ga.) and freshman Justin Warren (Durham, N.C.) won the deciding match at #3, beating Cory Seltman and Pilote-Schraenen, 7-5.
In singles, junior Christopher Toner (South Hamilton, Mass.) opened with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Brian Power at #1. Junior Arnaud Valentin (Ridgefield, Conn.) notched a 6-4, 6-4 win over Savio at #4 and Warren sealed the 4-0 UConn win with a 6-1, 6-4 win at #5 over Pilote-Schraenen.
In the afternoon's match against Hartford, the Huskies swept doubles at the #1 and #3 spots to earn the point. Toner and senior Jacob Spreyer (Denver, Colo.) posted a 6-4 win over Bryan Einstoss and Nicholas Sharwarko.
Valentin and Warren posted a clean sweep at #3 over Harrison Max and Luis Montes, 6-0. In singles, Valentin posted a 6-1, 6-2 win over Juan Molina at #4. Spreyer followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #2 over Einstoss.
Goldstein clinched the match at #3 defeating Schwararko in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
The Huskies will close out the fall portion of the schedule this coming weekend at the ITA Regional at Yale University.
