UConn Visits Lousville And Cincinnati To Conclude 2013 Season

STORRS, Conn. -- With the home slate complete, the UConn women's volleyball team (13-18, 4-12 American) hits the road this week to close out the 2013 season. UConn will face Louisville (21-7, 16-0 American) on Wednesday at 7 p.m., then conclude the regular season with Cincinnati (2-28, 2-14 American) on Friday at 12 p.m.
UConn is coming off a 1-1 weekend, defeating Memphis on Friday before falling to Temple on Sunday. Karson Ratliff (Wake Forest, N.C.) led the Huskies in kills in both contests, posting 13 vs. Memphis and 15 against Temple. For her efforts on the week, Ratliff was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. It was her second such honor this season.
The Huskies faced Louisville at home on Oct. 27, falling 3-0 in a game televised on ESPNU. Connecticut also faced Cincinnati that weekend, dropping the Bearcats in five sets on Oct. 25.
Scouting Louisville
The Cardinals have clinched the 2013 American Athletic Conference crown, as the league will not hold a conference tournament. UofL is a perfect 16-0 in league play, and 21-7 overall. Maya McClendon and Emily Juhl are tied for the Louisville lead with 3.04 kills/set each. McClendon is also second on the team with 4.10 digs/set. Brooke Mattingly also adds 2.56 k/s, hitting at a .356 clip while Randi Ewing leads the squad with a .406 attack percentage. Katie George leads the Cardinals with 8.99 assists/set, and Caitlin Welch is tops on the team with 4.89 digs/set.
Scouting Cincinnati
The Bearcats currently sit at 2-28 this year, with a 2-14 record in The American. Cirara Hill is UC's top attacker, averaging 2.48 kills/set, while Morgan Allred adds 2.03. Breanna Barksdale is the most efficient UC hitter with a .231 percentage on her 161 kills, also coming in at second on the team with 89 total blocks. Me'Ansah Nicholson is the top blocker with 107, and Shelby Green leads with way with 3.36 digs/set.
