STORRS, Conn. -- The UConn women's volleyball team (8-10, 0-4 American) returns home on Tuesday night to welcome the Sacred Heart Pioneers (9-7, 3-1 NEC) to Gampel Pavilion. The contest with SHU marks the conclusion of UConn's non-conference schedule.
UConn most recently dropped a pair of contests down in Florida, losing a five-set thriller at UCF on Friday before falling in three sets at USF on Sunday. Four Huskies set or tied career-highs against UCF, led by Immanuella Anagu (Culver City, Calif.) posting 19 kills in the setback. Marissa Prinzbach (Cincinnati, Ohio) tied her personal best with 58 assists, and Brianna Datti (Durham, N.H.) and Sage Esposito (Milford, Conn.) each set new career-best in digs. Datti scooped 34 for the Huskies, while Esposito dug out 18.
Against USF on Sunday, Prinzbach notched her team-high sixth double-double of the season, dishing out 24 assists and tying for the team-high with 13 digs. Florida-native Erika Thomas (Ocoee, Fla.) led UConn with eight kills in the defeat.
UConn and Sacred Heart have played three times in the past, with the Huskies holding a 2-1 edge on their neighbors from Milford. Last year, UConn took down SHU by a score of 3-0 on Sept. 19.
After Tuesday's home game, Connecticut returns to league play with a visit from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-14, 0-4 American) on Friday, Oct. 11. Match time at Gampel Pavilion is set for 7 p.m.
