DES MOINES, Iowa- UConn senior Heather Wilson (Homer, N.Y.) opened up competition at the 2012 Outdoor NCAA Championships at Drake Stadium on Wednesday evening when she ran in the prelims of the 800 meter race. The four-time All-American concluded the event in 11th place with a time of the 2:04.23.
Wilson will not advance to Friday's final after finishing third in her heat. The top two of each heat and the next two next best two times earned a ticket to the finals.
Three-time All-American Victoria Flowers (Providence, R.I.) will compete in the hammer throw on Thursday at 3 p.m. as she looks to add a fourth All-American accolade and first outdoor honor of her career.
