Flowers & Wilson Named Second Team All-Americans

STORRS, Conn. (June 12, 2012) - Seniors Victoria Flowers (Providence, R.I.) and Heather Wilson (Homer, N.Y.) both were tabbed as 2012 Outdoor Second Team All-Americans on Tuesday morning by the USTFCCCA. The two senior leaders have now compiled nine All-American titles as each earned their first outdoor honor in Des Moines, Iowa last week.
First-team USTFCCCA All-America honors are awarded to those who earn any portion of a team point at the national championships, or reach an eight-entrant final. Second-team All-America honors are handed out to those whose final placing in the national meet range from ninth to 16th place.
Flowers, a three-time Indoor First Team All-American in the weight throw, finished the 2012 outdoor season with a 15th place toss of 58.99 meters (193-6) in the hammer throw on Thursday, June 7 to earn her first outdoor accolade.
In addition to Flowers, four-time Indoor First Team All-American Heather Wilson (Homer, N.Y.) concluded her season when she competed in the prelims of the 800m run on Wednesday and finished 11th (2:04.23) for a spot on the All-America Second Team.
