Deirdre Mullen To Compete In 2011 Pan American Games

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's track and field 2005 graduate Deirdre Mullen has been named to the 2011 Team USA roster which will compete in the Pan American Games slated to be held October 24-29 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
"With former athletes Phylicia George (Canadian National Team) and Trisha-Ann Hawthorne (Jamaican National Team), we can now add Deirdre to the international scene in her placement on the USA Team competing at the Pan Am Games," Head Coach Bill Morgan stated. "It's just amazing to see her development and the recognition she has received, it's well deserved."
Mullen, one of 44 female athletes competing in October with Team USA, will be participating in the high jump. As a Husky, Mullen hold's the UConn record with five All-American titles during her tenure. She also set school records for the high jump in both indoor (1.86m, 6-1.25) and outdoor (1.88, 6-2.00) events. Mullen won the BIG EAST Championship in 2002 and 2005 for the Outdoor high jump as well as the 2003 and 2004 Indoor high jump.
