With 11 athletes in 13 events, there were other opportunities but with the impressive fields, there really can't be any regrets with their efforts. Our heart was pierced somewhat with Trisha going down with an injury. She's been our foundation all year. I thought Ilva Bikanova making it to Nations clearing three heights without a miss was impressive. She's the only freshman to advance. Meghan Cunningham was her relentless self in the steeple along with Brigitte in the 800m and Lauren in the 10K. Not to be lost this weekend were the efforts of Tynisha McMillian who PR'd in the discus and Whitney Holder who competed in the long jump. Heather Wilson and Leah Andrianos were in the game, but just missed on Nationals" - Head Coach William Morgan ![]() ![]() |
Sophomore Brigitte Mania (800m), freshman Lauren Sara (10,000m), senior Meghan Cunningham (3,000m steeple chase) and freshman Ilva Bikanova (High Jump) all advanced in their respective events.
Four athletes competed on Saturday. Seniors Trisha-Ann Hawthorne and Tynisha McMillian ended their illustrious careers today with Connecticut.
Hawthorne suffered an injury this weekend and failed to qualify in the 200m. She ran 25.74. McMillian set a personal record in the discus, throwing 49.16m but failed to crack the top-12 and advance to the NCAA Championships.
Distance runners Leah Andrianos and Shauna McNiff both failed in their attempts to qualify for the National Championships. McNiff ran the 5,000m in 17:02.57. She placed 19th in her heat. Andrianos finished the 1,500m in 4:32.73 and placed 11th in her heat.
