Hawthorne Advances To 100m Penn Relays Final

Philadelphia, Pa.- Senior All-American Trisha-Ann Hawthorne competed in the 100m heats today at the Penn Relays at Franklin Park in Philadelphia, Pa. and placed second in her heat and advanced to compete in the Championship Final on Saturday at 3:45 p.m.
The first two from each heat plus the next three fastest times qualified for Championship Final. Hawthorne ran 11.58 and placed second behind current world leader in the 100m, LaKya Brookins from South Carolina.
Hawthorne came into the event ranked 21st in the NCAA and now will have a rematch with Brookins, the 2009 and 2011 NCAA Indoor 60m Champion.
On Friday, the UConn 4x400 relay team ran 3:46.02 and placed 25th. That time advances the Huskies to the ECAC Championship on Saturday at 5:40 p.m.
The 4x400 relay team is comprised of freshmen Tiffany Daley, Celina Emerson and Imani Sudlow along with sophomore Ana Groff.
UConn's 4x800m record-holding relay team will compete on Saturday at 2:10 p.m.
