Huskies Drop Sacred Heart, 4-2

Storrs, Conn. - The UConn men's hockey team went to Fairfield, Conn. and defeated Sacred Heart, 4-2. Freshman Brant Harris tallied a goal and an assist while sophomore goaltender Garrett Bartus made 30 saves in the victory. Connecticut will host Sacred Heart on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn.
Sacred Heart scored first at 3:49 of the first period with a goal from Evan Mladenoff. UConn was able to even the score at 16:52 on Corey Jendras' third goal of the season. He was assisted by Jeff Saphia and Chris Spicer. After one period the two teams went into the locker room tied, 1-1, with both teams putting 10 shots on net.
The Huskies outscored the Pioneers 2-1 in the second period with goals from senior Justin Hernandez and the freshman Cole Schneider. Hernandez gave UConn a 2-1 lead at 13:07. SHU evened the score at 14:17 before Schneider put home his ninth goal of the game for the eventual game winner at 17:37.
UConn added an insurance goal late in the third period from Harris to finish the game.
Fans can still purchase walk-up tickets at Rentschler Field for the historic outdoor game at 1 p.m.
