Men's Cross Country Finishes Second At Fairfield Invite

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's cross country team started the 2010 season with a second place finish at the Fairfield University Invitational this afternoon, led by sophomore Nick Aguila (West Hartford, Conn.) who placed second overall.
Fairfield University won the invite, finishing with 32 points, followed by UConn with 53, Wagner (58), New Haven (90) and Bridgeport (145).
Aguila posted a time of 26:18, just ten seconds short of the first place runner, Wagner's Zach Spector.
The second Husky to cross the finish line was Ryan McGuire (Orange, Conn.), finishing sixth overall in a time of 26:37, followed by Joe Clark who placed 12th in 27:28.
Rounding out the UConn runners were Dan Bubniak (Danbury, Conn.), Calvin Carrasco (Durham, Conn.) and Alex Bennatan (Lake Forest, Ill.) finishing 16th (27:50), 17th (27:52) and 25th (29:25) respectively.
The Huskies continue the 2010 season at the UMass Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 18), with the race beginning at 11:00 a.m.
