STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut softball team will wrap up their regular season with a three-game home series against Louisville on the Burrill Family Field at the Connecticut Softball Stadium.
The game times have been adjusted and the Huskies will begin play on Saturday, May 8 at 1 p.m. in the first game of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. Play will conclude Sunday, May 9 at Noon. Prior to the game the Huskies will honor their four seniors who will be graduating in 2010.
UConn's seniors are Lauren Cecchi, Amanda Martin, Justyne Roy and Tricia Sullivan.
Roy and Sullivan have participated in nearly every game in their four years with the university. Roy has been a constant at first base while Sullivan's pitching prowess on the mound has helped the Huskies to three-straight BIG EAST Tournament appearances since she arrived at UConn.
Amanda Martin joined the Huskies in 2010 after participating on the UConn Track and Field squad for four years. Lauren Cecchi was a two-year starter for the Huskies who had to end her athletic career after suffering a back injury. Despite not playing, Cecchi took on the role of team manager over her last two seasons.
HELP STRIKE OUT CANCER!
Throughout the 2010 season, the University of Connecticut softball team will do their part to raise awareness for cancer. The Huskies will wear pink bows and wrist bands each Sunday and will host their annual Strike-Out Cancer day in conjunction with the UConn baseball team and the Jimmy V Foundation at the end of the season.
The Huskies will host their annual Strike-Out Cancer event which will be held on Sat. May 8th, when UConn takes on Louisville in their final weekend of regular season softball.
This season, the team will also wear pink bows and wrist bands each Sunday to show their support for the brave individuals who battle breast cancer.
