Huskies Remain No. 1 in Division I Northeast Region

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's track and field team has been ranked the top team in the NCAA Division I Northeast Region for the third consecutive week, as announced Tuesday morning.
The Huskies are the No. 1 team in the region with 662.52 points followed by Syracuse (608.03) and Cornell (547.57). Columbia has 441.26 points to round out the top-four teams.
Within the region, UConn has 11 top-three positions in events as well as six top individual performances.
Junior Trisha-Ann Hawthorne leads the way for the Huskies with a top ranking in the 100 meter (11.44), 200 meter (23.40) and 4x100 (44.94) meter relay with teammates Mandela Graves-Fulgham, Phylicia George and Kristen Brown.
George also leads the region in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.39, while freshman Whitney Holder is the top performer in the long jump with her mark of 20' ½". Emma Crowcroft's throw of 158'3" rounds out the Huskies' top ranked performers.
The Huskies will travel to Princeton, N.J. on May 14 for the 2010 ECAC Outdoor Championships, which will begin on Friday, May 14 at Princeton University.
