Cascio Named MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut men's soccer midfielder Tony Cascio has been named a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, which is considered the highest individual honor in intercollegiate soccer.
Cascio earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team and was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year in 2010 as he concluded his junior season with the Huskies, tallying a team-best 10 goals along with six assists for 26 points.
The Gilbert, Ariz. native registered 25 of his 55 shots on goal for a .455-percentage and tallied four game-winning goals for the Huskies. On Sept. 24 against USF live on ESPNU, Cascio netted a hat trick to lift the Huskies over the Bulls 4-0. He also recorded two goals against Seton Hall and led UConn to a 12-2-6 overall record on the year.
The recipients of the MAC Hermann Trophy are selected by Division I head coaches who are current members of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. A list of the finalists from the group of 15 semifinalists will be announced on Friday, Dec. 10.
The finalists will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo., for a news conference on Jan. 7, 2011, where the winner will be announced, with a presentation banquet following.
