Four Earn NSCAA All-Northeast Region Honors

2010 NSCAA All-Northeast Region Teams
STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's soccer trio of Josh Ford (Liverpool, N.Y.), Tony Cascio (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Carlos Alvarez (Los Angeles, Calif.) were named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team as announced by the NSCAA on Friday (Dec. 10). Defender Andrew Jean-Baptiste (Brentwood, N.Y.) was also named to the All-Northeast Region Second Team for his accomplishments this season.
In his final season as a Husky, Ford registered 11 shutouts and 61 saves, leading the Huskies to a 12-2-6 record earning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year honors. Ford had a record-breaking season as he now holds UConn's all-time records in career wins (54), career shutouts (50) and consecutive starts (85). He also ranks seventh among all-time Huskies with 275 career saves.
Cascio, the 2010 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, led the Huskies with 10 goals and 26 points on the year. During the regular season, he was third in the league with 1.78 points per game as well as tied for second in goals. In conference games only, he finished the regular season tied for second with 0.78 goals per game. Throughout the year Cascio was ranked in the top-25 of the nation in points per game, total points, goals per game and total goals.
Alvarez, a 2010 BIG EAST First Team honoree, led the conference with 14 assists this year and ranked fourth in the nation with a 0.70 assist per game average. The sophomore recorded 22 points this season on a team-high 14 assists and four goals, including two game winners.
Jean-Baptiste earned second team honors after starting all 20 games as part of the Husky defense that allowed just seven goals on the year and posted 13 shutouts. During home contests only, the Huskies allowed just two goals as they held an 8-0-3 record at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
